Well folks,

After some time and money and energy spent, I’ve been accepted into the MFA program offered between PNCA & OCAC in Applied Craft and Design.

My efforts to keep an updated portfolio site going have been somewhat fruitful, but otherwise a bit non-essential. I have registered for an URL connected to a new portfolio site being developed at the moment. There is a good chance I’ll abandon this as my primary portfolio after the new service is put in place.

I’ll be keeping everyone posted about that as well as anything relevant to the new school adventure!

Thanks for paying attention to my shit!

Take care,

Mrnickparker

This is how the 3D modeling is progressing. Teaching myself Blender has been both fun and frustrating. I do like how this is going. Fun!

Venus & Adonis. The director of this production was interested in this idea that no one person or being could embody either Venus or Adonis. So, I came up with these “Gorgeous Monsters” made up of so-called attractive people. Yellow was also an important color in this particular production. Time was tight, so this came together within a day.

"Without aesthetic, design is either the humdrum repetition of familiar clich├ęs or a wild scramble for novelty. Without the aesthetic, the computer is but a mindless speed machine, producing effects without substance. Form without relevant content, or content without meaningful form."

A little piece I made for an old friend of mine who is a film-maker in L.A. After watching the film and shuffling through a few ideas, this idea of an inverted heart was what the film maker and I felt was the right move. The central theme is love and affection, but not in a conventional-relationship way. He liked the blood, so that stayed, although there is some violence in the film, we could have taken that away and focused on the heart. Sometimes, when the client is happy, it’s best to just call it “finished.”
